[ which is an invitation to stop her, because Yor already overstocks when she gets food. ]
I don't know what else we can do. Maybe camping if there's not enough space, but Mr. Harlock and Stoat already did that for a task and I donβt know if they'd be eager.to try it again...
[ listen, she's following the grocery rule of "if you can carry it back in one trip then you're good" it's not her fault she can carry several shopping carts worth of food in one trip ]
Okay. Then...I can gather the utensils and you can get the food?
[ it would be a mild inconvenience at most, since they have a member of Phoenix (and one adjacent) that literally eats like a horse. but she smiles before heading into the diner, leaving the door propped open for him in case he'd prefer to finish his smoke break outdoors. but once she gets behind the counter she calls out: ]
Um, would a second serving tray count as an essential?
[ He stays outside for just a moment longer, snubbing out his cigarette before he follows her in. (Even though he smokes in here all the time usually whoops.) ]
[ while not intentional, she may have developed some gentle prompting for her smoking teammates to finish due to the sheer amount their time together. and if Juzo is getting food he shouldn't be smoking while doing so! ]
Not much, but if Miss Marianne wants to make tea for everyone at the same time, it's easier to serve with a tray. And Mr. Hunter may be borrowing ours...
[ she says like it's normal for a teenage boy to just do this ]
I think he might, but I'm worried how he might react. I'm sure you noticed his hair has been getting longer? When he borrowed my compact and saw his reflection, he became very upset...
[ like, knife weilding to chop hair off upset ]
I gave him a haircut, but I wondered if maybe having the tray on hand as an optional mirror might help? S-since his hair will eventually grow out again...
[ It's hard to be self-conscious about a think he doesn't remember having! ]
Ah, yeah, I can see that. I think maybe we oughta get him a real mirror in that case. Or pick one up to have in the common room so he doesn't feel like we're goin' out of our way fr him.
I just don't want him to feel self-conscious, or moreso, but if you think it's subtle enough he wouldn't notice the reason why there's suddenly a mirror in our common room...
[ this is the most Domestic Teamwork. Hunter is probably somewhere feeling his ears burn from all this mother (Phoenix) henning. ]
If we don't want to draw attention to it, how will we get him to notice it? Maybe hang it up while he's out and wait until he's startled by his reflection?
[ there's the costume shop, Yor just needs someone to convince her it's not unethical to take one for this very important reason ]
So...someone can distract him while the other puts up the mirror and both of us don't say anything so he can make his decision to do whatever he wants with it? Except maybe we should say something to Mr. Harlock so he's sure to leave it in the common room...
The kid's got friends. He spends plenty of time outa the dorm. Should be easy enough to put a nail in the wall and hang a mirror without havin' to go to too much trouble.
H-he does! I'm very glad to see him go out with his friends. It's only that if he came back at the wrong time it would easily draw his attention to everything. And I wouldn't know how to explain myself...
[ turning to give him a reassured smile ]
You're right, it should be easy. And he probably won't even think anything of it. So...I suppose that means we wouldn't need a second tray? Which is a shame because it's the only thing I've found so far.

...okay. A cutting board, lids for drinks, and food that's not too messy that we can eat one handed?
no subject
I think that sounds like a solid plan. We got no idea how long this is gonna last, after all.

I don't think it's gonna get so dire that we can't come back here if we need to. Let's just grab the essentials for now.
no subject
Okay. Then...I can gather the utensils and you can get the food?
no subject
[ WELL crisis averted, thankfully. They can shop, however this counts as shopping, in peace. ]
no subject
Um, would a second serving tray count as an essential?
no subject
Do we even use the one we have?
no subject
Not much, but if Miss Marianne wants to make tea for everyone at the same time, it's easier to serve with a tray. And Mr. Hunter may be borrowing ours...

What's Hunter doin' with a serving tray?
no subject
[ again, talking like this is normal behavior. she starts moving stacks of saucers and mugs to see if she can find any lids. ]
no subject
Does he need an actual mirror?

[ Juzo, who does not have hair, is very confused over this for a moment, but slowly some pieces start to drift into place. ]
... You saw Belos, right? After we all got taken over? What'd he look like?
no subject
Since they're related, they look very much alike. That's why Mr. Hunter was so upset, the long hair reminded him of his uncle.
no subject
Ah, yeah, I can see that. I think maybe we oughta get him a real mirror in that case. Or pick one up to have in the common room so he doesn't feel like we're goin' out of our way fr him.
no subject
Do you think that would work? ...could we at least put it far enough away from the kitchen and any sharp objects?
no subject
Don't see why it wouldn't. A mirror's a practical thing to have, right?
no subject
I just don't want him to feel self-conscious, or moreso, but if you think it's subtle enough he wouldn't notice the reason why there's suddenly a mirror in our common room...

[ Look at these two Being Parents. ]

If we don't want to draw attention to it, how will we get him to notice it? Maybe hang it up while he's out and wait until he's startled by his reflection?
no subject
Well... yeah, kinda. If we put it up somewhere that's not too outa the way, he's bound to notice it. Then he can do whatever he wants with it.
no subject
So...someone can distract him while the other puts up the mirror and both of us don't say anything so he can make his decision to do whatever he wants with it? Except maybe we should say something to Mr. Harlock so he's sure to leave it in the common room...

[ A considering pause. ]
You might be right about Harlock.

[ turning to give him a reassured smile ]
