They're the major witch organizations. Most people join one when they get old enough for it.

[ He pulls down his sleeve, showing a triangular symbol on his wrist. ]

I'm in the Emperor's Coven, which is the most elite one. They're enforcers that can use any type of magic in existence.

[gunmettle]

[ Juzo inspects the mark a moment. ]

Are you still in the Emperor's Coven? Y'know. After everything.

[pyrighteous]

[ He. Deflates. Also, there are thin lines around the mark that look like scars. ]

Well. No. Definitely not.

[gunmettle]

[ Oh. Juzo gently catches Hunter by the wrist, running his thumb over the lines. ]

Where did these come from?

[ Hunter winces, but lets him without issue (or apparent pain.) ]

... Belos tried to cast a magic draining spell. Via the coven sigils. That was his plan - to kill all of the witches on the Boiling Isles like that. And he almost succeeded. Did succeed, for a minute.

[gunmettle]

[ He goes still for a few seconds, feeling a hot spike of anger run through his chest. He takes a moment to tamp it down to something more manageable. ]

The more I hear about this guy, the more I hate him. [ His muzzle ticks up from pointing at Hunter's wrist to his face. ] What do you mean he did succeed?

[pyrighteous]

I mean he cast it. That's what the scars are.

... Luz's ... uh. Adopted sibling? Named King. He made a deal with the Collector to stop the spell before anyone died.

[gunmettle]

I'm glad they were able to stop it. Just wish you didn't have to go through it in the first place.
