Only real big difference I've noticed is the lack of Extension tech.

Yeah. You get Extensions, you stop bein' human. You become somethin' else - an Extended. Guess the state of my world reflects that disparity.

Is there any particular reason why the perception of one would change upon such a thing?

I mean, look at me.

But even in far less extreme cases, there's always the perception that the Extended are dangerous, or think they're above the average person. There are terrorists out there who latch onto that fear and spread that rhetoric. Rights for Extended is a hot button topic.
